SIX HEALTH WORKERS ALLOCATED TO YALUM HEALTH POST

THE Yalum community health post in the remote Net-Lyaim region of the Maip-Mulitaka LLG within the new Pogera-Paiela District has been allocated a strength of six community health workers by the Enga Provincial Health Authority (EPHA).

This challenging and exciting announcement was made by a local elite and board member, Mr Miok Michael.

He highlighted the importance of this allocation signifying the importance work these health workers will carry out in saving lives and serve the basic health care needs of more than 20,000 people living in this remote region only accessible by air.

“Health and education has been the main priority for my rural people after being neglected for many years,” Michael said.

He sincerely acknowledged the support from the Enga Provincial Health Authority in recognizing the health care needs of the rural populace of the Net-Lyaim region by allocating six
community health workers to this recently established rural health facility.

Michael has plans to build additional staff houses and upgrade the community health post into a health center going forward.

The Yalum community health post was recently established with financial assistance from the Wabag Open MP Hon.Dr Lino Tom when he was the Health Minister.
