TOTALENERGIES SIGNS MOU WITH GULF PHA AND KAPUNA HOSPITAL

TOTALENRGIES EP PNG Limited (TotalEnergies) as Operator of the Papua LNG project, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday (January 30th, 2025) with both the Gulf Provincial Health Authority (GPHA) and the Gulf Christian Services Agency (Kapuna Hospital), re-affirming the Project’s commitment to supporting stakeholder partnerships in the Gulf Province.

TotalEnergies has been logistically supporting Kapuna Hospital since 2016. The MoU signing ensures continued and vital health care is delivered to the communities in the project area.

Present to witness the signing was Gulf PHA Chairman Augustine Mano, Gulf Christian Services Agency Executive Chairman Adam Jarius, National Department of Health (NDOH) Acting Deputy Secretary for National Health Standards and Compliance Dr. Dora Katal, TotalEnergies Managing Director Arnaud Berthet along with representatives from the project operator.

TotalEnergies Managing Director Mr. Berthet whist acknowledging the Gulf PHA, Gulf Christian Services Agency and the NDOH says this is a collective endeavor and a collective effort.

He says TotalEnergies as responsible operator, together with its international partners, are committed to sustainable development and to sustainable operation. Sustainable operations mean to take care about the communities.

He adds that Gulf province as the host of the Papua LNG Project needs to be supported in every aspect this is why they are so committed to making a positive impact on these neighboring communities aiming at providing positive impact on the next generation and the generation after.

He further adds that these long-term commitments for health, for education or for energy will need to be implemented on the ground. This is actually a work which is done by the team, with the support of partners, such as the government, local government.

Gulf PHA Chairman Mr. Augustine Mano pledged the support of the PHA to partner with the Gulf Christian Services Agency the Kapuna Rural Hospital to address health conditions in the region.

He says partnership is very important to deliver quality services to the province and the communities.

The Kapuan Rural Hospital serves a catchment area of 30,000 people in the Baimuru LLG as well as the eastern regions of Kikori and Ihu LLG in Gulf Province.
