New Ireland is being reminded on the brink of the late Sir Juius Chan’s wake and burial that his passion was always deeply rooted in the people of New Ireland till the very end.

Advisor to the Governor’s Office Robin Brown reminded the people of Sir Julius’s tendency of blazing the trail ever since.

He was a true son of New Ireland, Namatanai, Huris, Manmantinut. Apart from setting up the government system of our democracy, Sir J was also responsible for the introduction of Ramu Sugar Oil Palm and pioneered so many other firsts for Papua New Guinea.

The memorial service saw Ministers of State, representatives from the 2 mining giants, his children and his nephew, Walter Schnaubelt, Member for Namatanai and Minister for Civil Aviation and the people of New Ireland attend.

During his State Hauskrai at the Sir John Guise Indoor Stadium, tributes poured in from many who knew the Namatanai strongman, expressing how much he meant to not only his people in New Ireland but also to the rest of the country as a whole.
