FOLLOWING the completion of a successful week-long conference, teachers and staff of the International Education Agency (IEA) of Papua New Guinea, participated in sporting activities at Ela Murray International School to end the week-long conference.
More than 328 IEA teachers from 17 IEA International Schools and the IEA College of TAFE gathered in Port Moresby for the 50th Anniversary Whole Agency Conference, which began on 8 June and concludes today, 12 June.
Under the theme “Forward-Focused Education: Inspire. Innovate. Lead.”, the conference celebrated IEA’s shared journey, strengthened professional learning, and inspired the future of education across all IEA schools. Together, educators honoured the past, celebrated the present, and looked ahead to the next 50 years of learning and leadership.
IEA Director of Education, Dr Cherie Litwiller, and IEA Chief Executive Officer Neal Mather, were among the official guest at the conference opening on Monday, who delivered an inspiring address on “IEA at 50”, reflecting on the organisation’s rich history and future direction.
On the second day of the conference, participants engaged in specialised breakout sessions facilitated by curriculum advisers, UTB representatives, and other invited guests from overseas.
The third day continued with a full programme of professional learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across various conference venues.
Teachers and staff participated in focused sessions covering topics such as Copilot in Schools, Accessibility, Mathematics and English Curriculum Refresh, Planning for Success, BSSS Quality Assessment, Subject Resource Sharing, Early Years Learning, and TAFE Assessment Practices and Subject Moderation.
The fourth day focused heavily on practical classroom application, assessment, leadership, and Early Years education. Participants were challenged to move from ideas to action through engaging sessions designed to strengthen teaching practice and educational leadership.
The conference concludes today with sporting and recreational activities, providing an opportunity for teachers and staff to celebrate together before returning to their respective schools across Papua New Guinea.
