ONE hundred students from communities surrounding K92 Mining’s Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province have been awarded tertiary education bursaries under the company’s 2026 Community Bursary Program.

The program provides financial assistance to eligible students from Bilimoia, Unantu, Pomasi and Watarais who are pursuing undergraduate studies at recognised tertiary institutions across Papua New Guinea.

This year, K92 Mining has committed K438,140 towards the bursary program, representing a 40% increase from 2025.
The bursaries cover up to 50% of tuition fees and academic book costs, covered K10,000 per student, with payments made directly to the institutions.

Recipients were selected through a competitive process based on academic performance and priority fields of study.
Since launching the bursary program in 2018, K92 Mining has invested more than K1.9 million in supporting students from its host communities.
