GURIAS SET TO FAREWELL CLUB VETERAN ON HIGH NOTE, MURUKS ON MISSION

AGMARK Rabaul Gurias is set to send off club veteran and premiership winning versality Konnie Bernard on high note, later this afternoon at 3pm.

Konie Bernard, one of the remaining members of the 2015 Gurias premiership winners will pull the curtain after this afternoon’s grand final clash against the Mendi Muruks, with the veteran playmaker determined to continue his life after footy and outside of the field.

Bernard, now as the ‘Last Man Standing’ has already announced his retirement from the domestic competition and is ready to lead the East New Britain franchise out today at the National Football Stadium to say the final hooray.

Agmark Group of Companies sponsored Gurias also confirmed his retirement from the Digicel-ExxonMobil Cup at the end of this season, wishing him the best in his future endeavours.

“Congratulations again on a wonderful career, Konnie,” the Gurias management state before his final game today.

After spending almost 13-years playing in the local semi-professional competition and making the PNG Prime Minister’s XIII squad, playing five grand final deciders and Melanesian Cup were some of his career highlights.

Bernad will partner with Mark Alunga in the halves pairing for the decider against the Muruks.

Meanwhile, the Southern Highlands provincial team Muruks adamant to quenched the long-awaited premiership drought after going back-to-back as the minor premiers in 2025 and 2026.

In the Women’s Santos Cup competition final, the Southern Region derby in Central Dabaris and Port Moresby Vipers is underway.
