He said the national government has plans to establish an “Unexplained Wealth Investigation Unit” under the Proceeds of Crime Act, purposely to investigate people that have accumulated wealth that they cannot explain.
Police Minster was responding to questions raised by Bulolo MP, Sam Basil Jnr on corruption stating that Prime Minister James Marape has taken decisive steps to bolster PNG’s investigative capacity.
The Police Minster boldly stated that these initiatives by the government will help to strengthen PNG’s efforts in aligning with FATF standards to combat organized crime.
He says no one should stand in the way of these key interventions; these are the tools that will not only assist in removing PNG from the greylist but are necessary to restoring the integrity of our financial system” the police minster said.
