THE East New Britain Provincial Health Authority has completed its first quarter review of the 2026 Annual Implementation Program, with a clear directive from its CEO to fix implementation gaps.
The three-day meeting took place last week in the Gazelle District at Kairak where all health directors, program managers, and district health coordinators presented their reports.
ENBPHA CEO Dr Ako Yap says the PHA will hold quarterly reviews in each of the province’s four districts, Gazelle, Kokopo, Rabaul, and Pomio to examine existing health facilities and staff on the ground with the goal to identify bottlenecks early and adjust strategies promptly.
Dr Yap has strongly urged managers to focus on what has not been achieved in the first quarter to be moved forward and improved in the second quarter.
He says he wants the best out of every health intervention, ensuring it has the intended impact on the population and a technical working team is now processing all recommendations from the review to realign finances with physical progress.
Dr Yap added that conducting reviews in the districts gives the authority time to see facilities and staff firsthand, rather than relying only on an annual review back at headquarters.
