ELECTION WRITS SIGNED

Governor General His Excellency Sir Bob Dadae signed the By Election Writs at the Government House, Konedobu yesterday morning.

The writs were presented by the PNG Electoral Commission, Commissioner Simon Sinai.

Commissioner Sinai presented the 4 writs for the 4 electorates that will undergo the By Elections, of which three from Momase Region, Usino Bundi in Madang, Aitape Lumi in West Sepik, Kabwum in Morobe province and one in the Highlands region, the Pogera Paela Electorate in Enga province.

Commissioner Sinai when clarifying the By- Elections, saying for Usino Bundi, By-Election will be conducted following the passing of the incumbent MP Jimmy Uguro and for Pogera Paela electorate MP’s passing Maso Karipe.

Mr Sinai said the other two electorate Aitape Lumi and Kabwum Open Electorate are also vacant following Courts disqualifying both respective incumbent MPs wins by the Court of Disputed Returns, Patrick Basa incumbent MP for Kabwum Open Electorate and Aitape Lumi incumbent MP Patrick Basa.

Meantime, the Minister for Local Level Government Affairs Soroi Eoe also signed the Writs for the Local Level Government Presidents and Ward Councillors this afternoon at the Morata House in Waigani.

This now enables the writs open for Nominations to take place.
